What is 2FA?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a verification code from an authenticator app in addition to your password. 2FA is mandatory on One Trading and cannot be turned off. For more on account security, click here.
Before You Start
Download an authenticator app of your choice, such as:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
- Microsoft Authenticator
- LastPass Authenticator
Make sure the app is installed before you begin setup.
Setting Up 2FA
After your first login to One Trading, a banner will prompt you to enable 2FA with a QR code.
Desktop users:
- Open your authenticator app and select "Add a new code," then "Scan QR code."
- Point your camera at the QR code on the banner.
- The app generates a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds. Enter it into the field on One Trading and click "Next."
- From now on, you'll enter this code after your password each time you log in.
Smartphone users:
- Click "Having trouble with the code?" below the QR code.
- You'll receive a long setup key instead of a QR code.
- In your authenticator app, select "Add a code" → "Enter setup key," and paste the code.
- The app generates a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds. Enter it into the field on One Trading and click "Next."
- From now on, you'll enter this code after your password each time you log in.
Save Your Recovery Code
After setup, you'll be shown a recovery code. Store it securely — it's the only way back into your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Avoid labeling it clearly as "One Trading." Use a short, private memo only you would recognize.
How to Reset 2FA
If you've lost access to your authenticator app and don't have your recovery code, you won't be able to reset 2FA yourself. Please contact our customer care team, who will guide you through the account recovery process.
For security reasons, resetting 2FA requires identity verification before access is restored.
Keeping Your 2FA Secure
- Protect access to your authenticator app itself.
- Avoid saving passwords in an unprotected wallet or notes app.
