What is 2FA?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring not only your password for a login but also a verification code generated by a third-party app. This code changes every 30 seconds and is unique, so the only way to log in to your account is to have both your password and the code from your authenticator app. Please note that 2FA is a mandatory security setting and cannot be turned off. Additionally, it is recommended to protect access to your authenticator app and avoid saving passwords in an unprotected wallet. For more information about your account's security, click here.
Getting Started with 2FA
To start, you will need to download an authenticator app of your choice. Some popular options include:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
- Microsoft Authenticator
- LastPass Authenticator
Please ensure you download the app of your choice before starting the setup process.
How to Enable 2FA on One Trading
After logging in to One Trading for the first time, you will automatically see a banner prompting you to enable 2FA. This banner contains a QR code.
For Desktop Users:
- Open the chosen authenticator app on your smartphone.
- Within the authenticator app, select the option to add a new code and then "Scan QR code."
- Point your camera at the QR code displayed on the banner.
- Your authenticator app will then generate a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds. Copy the code from the authenticator app into the designated field on the One Trading platform to complete the login process and click "Next."
- From now on, when you log in, you will have to enter this code after you enter your password.
For Smartphone Users:
If you are using One Trading exclusively on your smartphone and cannot scan the code with your phone, follow these steps:
- Click the "Having trouble with the code?" button right under the QR code on the One Trading platform.
- Instead of scanning the QR code, you will now receive a long code.
- Copy this code, return to the authenticator app, click on "Add a code," and select "Enter setup key."
- Paste the long code into that field.
- Your authenticator app will then generate a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds. Copy the code from the authenticator app into the designated field on the One Trading platform to complete the login process and click "Next."
- From now on, when you log in, you will have to enter this code after you enter your password.
Next, you will be shown a long code. This code is your recovery code. It is important to securely store this code as it will grant you access to your account in case you ever lose access to your authenticator app. Never write down clearly that it is for One Trading. Consider using a short memo that only you can remember to indicate what this code is for.
