What are Take Profit and Stop Loss?
Take Profit (TP) and Stop Loss (SL) automatically close your position at a predefined price level — securing profits or limiting losses without constant monitoring.
Take Profit (TP): Closes your position once the price reaches your target.
Example: Buy BTC at €50,000, set TP at €52,000 → your position closes automatically at €52,000, locking in profit.Stop Loss (SL): Closes your position if the market moves against you.
Example: Buy BTC at €50,000, set SL at €48,000 → if BTC drops to €48,000, your position closes to limit loss.
Where can I use TP/SL?
Take Profit and Stop Loss are currently available only for futures.
They are not yet supported on spot markets, but will be added in the future.
Why use TP/SL?
24/7 Protection: Orders work even when you’re offline.
Removes Emotion: Your exit strategy is predefined.
Time-Saving: No need to constantly watch the market.
Risk Management: Know your potential profit or loss in advance.
Note: Sudden volatility can sometimes trigger TP/SL earlier than expected.
How to Set or Edit TP/SL
When opening a position:
Enter trade details in the order form.
Add your TP and/or SL prices in the TP/SL section.
Submit your order.
For existing positions:
Use the Positions tray to add, edit, or remove TP/SL.
Or drag the TP/SL lines directly on the chart to adjust visually.
You can set one Take Profit and one Stop Loss per position. Both are optional.
Common Questions
Can I change my TP/SL later?
Yes, you can update or remove them anytime.
What happens if I don’t set TP/SL?
Your position stays open until you close it manually. Using Stop Loss is strongly recommended, especially when trading with leverage.
Do both execute?
No. Only one triggers — the other cancels automatically once your position closes.
What if the market moves quickly?
During high volatility, the execution price may differ slightly from your trigger level due to slippage. This is normal in fast-moving markets.
Investing involves risks. The value of investments can go up as well as down and you may receive back less than your original investment or lose your entire investment. Investing with leverage means the value of your investment fluctuates more than the price of the underlying asset. One Trading does not provide investment advice and investors should make their own decisions or seek independent advice.
