At One Trading, we offer leverage at 2x, 5x and 10x for trading perpetual futures - but the amount available to you will depend on several important factors.
Leverage Depends on Your Account Type and Profile
Leverage is not one-size-fits-all. Instead, it is tailored to each account based on the following criteria:
- Client classification:
- Professional clients may be eligible for higher leverage.
- Eligible retail clients will be assigned more conservative limits, which is 2x, to reflect regulatory parameters. Retail clients are also entitled to protection under the Dutch Investor Compensation Scheme.
- Appropriateness assessment:
Before you can trade perpetual futures, you must complete a mandatory appropriateness test. This includes a series of questions designed to assess your knowledge, experience, and understanding of the product and risks associated with trading using leverage. - Risk evaluation:
Based on your responses, our system determines your client classification. This helps ensure that you only access products and trading limits that align with your experience and risk profile.
Why is this important?
Perpetual futures are complex instruments that involve leverage, and this means both potential gains and losses can be magnified. We are committed to providing access to these products in a responsible and compliant way that protects clients while allowing flexibility for sophisticated strategies. This is part of our regulatory obligation under MiFID II and part of our commitment to protecting clients from unnecessary risk.
By adjusting leverage individually, we ensure that:
- Traders with more experience and a deeper understanding of the product can access higher leverage.
- New or less experienced traders are offered more conservative settings to support safe trading practices.
At One Trading, leverage for perpetual futures ranges from 2x to 10x - but your personal limit will be determined based on your account type and the outcome of your appropriateness test. This approach supports both regulatory compliance and responsible trading.
Investing involves risks. The value of investments can go up as well as down and you may receive back less than your original investment or lose your entire investment. Investing with leverage means the value of your investment fluctuates more than the price of the underlying asset. One Trading does not provide investment advice and investors should make their own decisions or seek independent advice.
